Why this happens in Flint

Flint sits in the same freeze-thaw cycle as the rest of southeast Michigan. Pipes in exterior walls and unheated crawl spaces fail in January, saturated ground overwhelms sump pumps in spring, and storms take shingles off in summer.

Our process

What a sewage backup job looks like from start to finish.

  1. Step 1

    Contain the area

We isolate the space so contamination does not spread through the house.

  2. Step 2

    Remove contaminated material

Waste, carpet, pad, and affected drywall come out and are disposed of properly.

  3. Step 3

    Clean and disinfect

Hard surfaces are washed and treated with EPA-registered disinfectants.

  4. Step 4

    Dry and clear

Structural drying, deodorizing, and a final walkthrough before reconstruction.

Questions from Flint property owners

Can I clean it myself?

We would not. Category 3 water needs protective equipment, containment and proper disposal.

What has to be thrown away?

Porous items that absorbed the water: pad, carpet, wet drywall, particleboard, most soft goods.

Is it covered by insurance?

Often only with a sewer and drain backup endorsement. Check your policy and we will document either way.

How quickly can you get to Flint?

We dispatch to Flint around the clock. Call and we will give you a straight answer on when a crew can be at the door instead of a promise we cannot keep.

Do you work with Flint permits and inspections?

Yes. Where the repair scope requires a permit, we pull it with the local building department and schedule the inspections as part of the job.
